Fear is Your Friend

Are you familiar with Yoda’s quote on fear?…

Fear is the path to the dark side.
Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to hate.
Hate leads to suffering

Or, in simplest terms: Fear leads to suffering.

Fear is something you experience many times throughout your day; sometimes obvious, most times subtle.

At the end of the day, how you relate to your fear is what determines the frequency and depth of your suffering.

I could expand upon the subject of fear in great detail, as I do in my Art of Masterful Communication course; here’s a 1 min excerpt from the “Fear is Your Friend” video module….

……but for the sake of this article, let’s get laser focused.

I want you to focus on one big, scary, uncomfortable goal for 2019…..Write it down.

Now write down ALL OF THE FEARS that you associate with this goal.

Here’s an exercise to help you out:

Close your eyes…..Connect to your fear….Listen to your fear….What is it telling you? Perhaps one of the following….

You’re going to fail.
You won’t have enough money.
You’re not good enough.
You don’t know what you’re doing.
You don’t have any experience.
You failed last time.

If you’ve heard these fearful voices in the past and chosen to move away from them, that’s OK, because now you have an opportunity to take a different approach.

You have an opportunity to MOVE TOWARDS YOUR FEARFUL VOICES.

It’s a very simple formula…..

FEEL THE FEAR and MOVE TOWARDS IT. Otherwise, YOU’LL SUFFER.

For the next few weeks, focus on your big goal. Get clear on what it is and your intention to move towards it.

If you run into roadblocks along the way, that’s ok.

And, if you’re feeling doubtful, think of your good ol homeboy, Yoda.
